The story / Irvine

A home office and guest house beside the pool.

These Irvine homeowners wanted to make the most of their backyard: a quiet place to work during the day and a comfortable place for guests to stay. HQ designed and built a new 400 square foot detached ADU next to the pool that does both.

Black frame sliding doors and a large picture window open the office to the water, while clerestory windows and skylights bring in natural light. Inside are a kitchenette and a full bathroom with a walk-in shower. Outside, a Trex deck steps down to the pool and ties the ADU into the backyard. HQ handled the design, engineering, permits and construction from start to finish.
